Using an Infrared Sauna in the Summer

Lose Weight, Feel Great & Detoxify

Written by Christopher Kiggins

Be careful using your sauna when it’s hot out

I’m not entirely sure what hit me but I completely overdid it in my infrared sauna yesterday. I usually use my sauna first thing in the morning. My sauna is on my deck and in the afternoon it gets pounded by the sun. I don’t even need to turn it on and it will be 100 F in there. However, for some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to use during the hottest part of the day. It had to be 110 just outside.

If your sauna is outside, don’t use it when it’s in direct sunlight during the Summer.

I would recommend that you don’t take an infrared sauna session in the middle of the day if your sauna is in the sun and it’s really hot outside. I usually get in my sauna at around 110 degrees F; however, yesterday, when I got in it was 130 F. I thought it would be fine but I ended up nearly giving myself a heat stroke.

I started to feel very exhausted almost immediately in my sauna–this usually doesn’t happen until the very end of my 30 minute session usually. I didn’t listen to my body which was overheated. Instead, I was stubborn and tried to finish my 30 minute session. Make sure you always listen to your body. It took a 30 minute cold shower to really cool myself off. I felt queasy for a few hours after my sauna session as well. I really think I came close to a heat stroke.

Don’t be dismayed–you should still be using your infrared sauna in the Summer. Here’s why:

Reasons to use your infrared sauna even in the Summer

1. Water intake. We get overheated in the Summer months. Weather from the heat or humidity, we get drained by the weather. That’s why it’s important to stay hydrated. It is always a good idea to drink plenty of good, clean water when you are ill. It’s also best to drink lots of water before during and after taking a sauna. Not only will water flush impurities it will keep you from becoming dehydrated. After your FIR sauna fix a cup of hot tea or eat some chicken soup; always a good choice when not feeling well.

2. Boost immune system.Consistent use of infrared sauna therapy can also assist with some of these other immune boosting strategies. After all, time spent in your infrared sauna not only relaxes, refreshes, and de-stresses it also detoxifies, improves circulation and lowers blood pressure. All that and I found that I sleep so much better after even only one, thirty minute session. A good nights sleep is also effective for easing symptoms and boosting immunity.

In order to boost your immune system and stay healthy throughout the Summer remember to reduce your stress level, drink plenty of clean, fresh water, eat organic and healthy as much as possible, take a daily far infrared sauna and get plenty of sleep.

3. Keep momentum. The last thing that you should do during the Summer is not using your infrared sauna. You really lose all the momentum that you’ve built up during the year by staying healthy and keeping your immune system very high. Keep momentum even when it’s hot out and keep using your infrared sauna. If you have to, use it in the morning when it’s not 100 degrees outside yet.
