I love yoga and I also love my Far Infrared sauna. It did not take too long for me to figure out a way to combine two activities I enjoy. I used to go to a Hot Yoga class daily until I realized I could blend the poses in yoga class with my daily Far Infrared sauna session. Practicing Hot Yoga fuses the best of both worlds – a heated environment and deep exercise. Both combine to promote heavy sweating thus flushing the maximum amount of toxins from the body. The heat allows more flexibility to your yoga positions which in turn warms up muscles allowing for added safety while practicing them. Personally, I simply enjoy not spending the extra time and money on traveling to and paying for classes when I already possess a Far Infrared sauna, with a removable bench and floor made of a comfortable yoga mat. I literally have all I need to practice Hot Yoga right in my own home.
Some tips on preparing for a Hot Yoga session in your Far Infrared sauna include being prepared with things like extra water and patience. It’s very important to hydrate prior to your yoga session and equally important to remain hydrated through the session. Afterwards drink electrolyte filled water or some coconut water as this will re-establish your electrolyte count. Last, be patient with yourself – remember there is no ego in yoga. Do the best you can without going overboard. If you begin to feel strange stop and take it more slowly next time.
You can expect many benefits from combining your Far Infrared sauna with Hot Yoga. I know I have. As Pilates says ‘You are only as old as your spine is flexible.’ Here are several benefits:
Flexibility – The penetrating heat allows your body greater and more efficient flexibility. Added flexibility is more therapeutic. Cardio – Hot Yoga is excellent for your heart. As you pose and contract muscles you burn a great deal of calories while stimulating your metabolism. Strength – Spinal strength is improved and you will use many of your muscles you never knew existed! Hot Yoga is low impact, too. Detoxification – The Far Infrared sauna’s heat penetrates deeply into your tissues and organs. Your muscles relax even as you perform poses. It’s the combination of the detoxifying yoga poses and the infrared that allow excess sweat to cleanse your body of everyday toxins. Breathing – Heat makes you breathe more deeply. This is a good thing. You simply will have no choice but to learn more controlled breathing. Determination and Focus – Hot Yoga requires a focus on a specific routine. As you exercise this routine, controlled and advanced focus and determination is learned and can be utilized within your daily life. Therapy – Detoxing is healing and healing is therapy. Hot Yoga promotes healing on so many levels; pain relief, reduction in symptoms from illnesses such as asthma, high blood pressure and even diabetes. It also aids in reducing depression, overweight and arthritis.
There are so many ways to enjoy your Far Infrared sauna and one of the healthiest and most challenging is to add a Hot Yoga routine into to your daily sessions. The stretching and improvement in balance are great for your body and nothing relieves stress like Hot Yoga. Combining the benefits of Far Infrared with Yoga produces weight loss and deep relaxation. The heated environment achieves positive changes quickly in your body. As your mind is cleared and your body detoxed you will see the tremendous benefits of Hot Yoga in a Far Infrared sauna. Far Infrared provides a heat that can’t be beat!
